AI is only as useful as the context it can access. For dealmakers and investment firms, some of the most valuable context – institutional knowledge, relationships, and deal history – lives in proprietary systems or niche third party tools that are difficult to connect to AI without custom development, lengthy integration work, or added security complexity.
Blueflame AI’s custom MCP connections solve that problem by giving firms a secure way to connect your firm’s unique systems directly to Blueflame, without building bespoke integrations or managing API keys. Built on Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI to external systems, Blueflame’s custom MCP connections make more of your firm’s knowledge available to Blueflame while maintaining the governance sensitive deal work requires.
That data becomes part of Blueflame’s unified intelligence layer alongside Datasite data room content, Grata private markets intelligence, public web sources, and other connected data. Blueflame’s GraphRAG architecture helps surface relationships across those sources, giving teams more complete, context-rich answers grounded in the information available to their firm.
For dealmakers, that means less time piecing together fragmented information and less dependence on one-off integration projects — and more time acting on connected intelligence across research, diligence, deal preparation, and decision-making.
How do Blueflame’s custom MCP connections work?
Blueflame’s custom MCP connections are designed for the systems your firm relies on that aren't already part of Blueflame's MCP connections Library.
If your team has an MCP-compatible server for an internal system or specialized application, your firm’s Blueflame admin can submit the connection details to Blueflame for review. Once Blueflame approves and enables your application, the connection is made available to your users and data can be accessed via interactions with the Blueflame agent
Blueflame’s custom MCP connections maintain the same enterprise-grade security standards as the rest of the platform, so answers stay source-grounded and scoped to what each user is allowed to see.
Each tool is managed and permissioned by an account admin and access mirrors the rights and permissions each user already has in the connected system. Connections authenticate through OAuth or OAuth 2.1, and servers stay client-hosted so data is queried within your own secure environment.
How to request a custom MCP connection in Blueflame
Blueflame’s MCP connections library provides out-of-the-box integrations with many of the systems investment firms use every day. For data sources that aren’t already supported, you can request a custom MCP connection. A custom connection may be appropriate when:
- The system already has an MCP server. Custom MCP connections should be used when a tool has a well-structured MCP server with clear documentation, standard authentication, and a concrete first use case to validate.
- A proprietary data source holds essential context. When an internal application or proprietary dataset already has an MCP server, custom MCP connections can bring those one-of-a-kind systems into Blueflame workflows.
- A third-party tool isn’t a managed connection yet. Custom MCP connections make it possible to connect to specialized workflow tools and niche vendor platforms that are not currently available as standard Blueflame-managed connections.
Getting started
Already using Blueflame? To submit a connection request for a proprietary or specialized system that is not already available in our library of out-of-the-box MCP connections, your firm's Blueflame admininstrator can go to the Connections tab in Blueflame, click Create, and fill out and submit the custom connection request form. The Blueflame team will then review, approve, and enable the connection for testing and use.
